Sinead McCarthy, a Transition Year student here at Coláiste na Toirbhirte, has been chosen as a finalist in ActionTalks, which is a national speech writing competition run by ActionAid and open to all students aged 14 to 17 years old. She was selected from 177 entries this year, the highest number of entries that the competition has received since its inception seven years ago. This year, the competition is taking place entirely online, and the topics focus on the pandemic. Sinead chose to discuss about the topic: ‘The coronavirus pandemic has reminded us of the importance of global solidarity and international aid.’
Sinead will be interviewed by Della Kilroy for RTE’s ‘Drivetime’, which will air on Wednesday, February 24th.
We are incredibly proud of Sinead having reached this stage of the competition and wish her the best of luck in the live final on Wednesday, 24th February.
