The Culture Club mask making competition was in full swing today at lunchtime. The competition was held in order to celebrate the Irish tradition of Samhain!

Samhain (pronounced Sow-in) one of Ireland’s oldest festivals, is rooted in ancient Celtic tradition.

In ancient Ireland, it was believed to be a time when the boundary between the world of the living and the dead grew thin, allowing spirits to pass freely between the two realms.

To protect themselves, people wore frightening masks and costumes, a practice we still celebrate every Halloween!

Final date for submission is Friday morning. Winners will be announced at lunchtime and prizes will be given! Good luck!!
