Today was the start of Anti- Bullying Week in our school.
Thought of the day: Strong people stand up from themselves. But the strongest people stand up for others.
Thank you to Meaghan, from Bully4U our guest speaker today who gave the second and third year students a presentation on all aspects of bullying including types, cyberbullying, bystanders, the importance of reporting bullying behaviour. She emphasised the importance of kindness, courage and friendship and the need to call out bullying behaviour as unacceptable. Students were also made aware of the dangers of social media and online activity and to be responsible for their treatment of others online.
The sixth year students watched ‘Wonder’ and reflected on the key messages of treating others with respect, dignity and kindness.
Other year groups discussed bullying in SPHE classes. More activities to follow during the week.
