]]> Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal is underway….. https://presbandon.ie/team-hope-christmas-shoebox-appeal-is-underway/ Wed, 21 Oct 2026 08:32:05 +0000 https://presbandon.ie/team-hope-christmas-shoebox-appeal-is-underway/ Our committee of fourth-year students is hard at work spreading the word about this year’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Conor Cuffe, Rory Hayden, Jack Clarke, Grace McCarthy, Siobhán Crowe and Aislinn Daly have been giving presentations to the different year groups, while some Religion classes have already started wrapping their shoeboxes.

We want everyone to get involved and help bring a little Christmas joy to children who need it most. Every shoebox is an opportunity to make a real difference! Attached is a photo of ‘The Four W’s: Wear, Wash, Write and Wow!’, which gives details of what can be included in the shoebox.

DEADLINE: Monday, November 2nd, the Monday we return from midterm break.

Let’s come together as a school community to spread kindness and make Christmas special for children around the world. We encourage everyone to get involved and support this fantastic cause!

]]> Samhain Mask decorating https://presbandon.ie/samhain-mask-decorating/ Tue, 20 Oct 2026 17:28:06 +0000 https://presbandon.ie/samhain-mask-decorating/ The Culture Club mask making competition was in full swing today at lunchtime. The competition was held in order to celebrate the Irish tradition of Samhain!

Samhain (pronounced Sow-in) one of Ireland’s oldest festivals, is rooted in ancient Celtic tradition.

In ancient Ireland, it was believed to be a time when the boundary between the world of the living and the dead grew thin, allowing spirits to pass freely between the two realms.

To protect themselves, people wore frightening masks and costumes, a practice we still celebrate every Halloween!

Final date for submission is Friday morning. Winners will be announced at lunchtime and prizes will be given! Good luck!!

Well done to the contributors
1. Kríos, National Student Enterprise Award winners from Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh, Bishopstown who have pivoted from draw string towels to AI. They encouraged us to be ‘shameless’ , put yourself out there and always stay curious.
2. Kinsale native Laura Lyons with her unique app controlled, flameless LED candle ‘Sonua’ explained how success lies in doing something different that makes you stand out.
3. Jonathan Davis, owner of JD fitness Skibbereen summed his message up succinctly “You are young, try new things, keep asking and don’t be afraid to fail and fail again”
4. Ernest Cantillon, part owner of Sober Lane Cork and Kinsale Gin company advocated doing what you enjoy, as life is too short !!
Great advice
We were inspired by them all
